[Digitimes] Entry-level $99 Nexus 7 to feature single-core 800 MHz processor - Page 4

How interesting. Even though I already own a fair tablet (once it's been rooted at least), there's something to say about having a smaller tablet to use just for web browsing. If it could run Minecraft pocket edition... I might just buy a couple of them. The kids at work love playing Minecraft, and when ever the boss isn't looking I wouldn't mind letting them play pocket edition, working together to make something awesome, you know?

Even so, my tablet has been going bad on me from lack of manufacturer support and games and apps surpassing it. Having something small that I can just carry around the apartment with while finding some stable ROM and hooking up my old tablet to my TV would be something I wouldn't mind! thumb.gif

Stable tablet for social stuff. Unstable tablet for... I don't know, netflix?

Anyways this is a good thing considering 90% of the use for this does not need Speed.
Problem there is OS.
What app do you use to decode 720p? I use Dice Player, anything I throw at it. Here is the link, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.inisoft.mediaplayer.a#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDIxMiwiY29tLmluaXNvZnQubWVkaWFwbGF5ZXIuYSJd

For everybody else, yes $99 for a Nexus 7 is a great thing. It is a OFFICIAL supported device, meaning you can buy it not caring about tablets whatsoever and flash whatever ROM you want for it.
Not to mention it is a Nexus device, people will buy the device and it will make a VERY EASY device to develop for.

All these cheap tablets you mention they don't offer you the newest and latest updates. Jelly Bean is awesome, and I can't really comment on it but to give it a chance because 60FPS + Vsync is amazing.

My Nexus S and Galaxy S1 that I had was able to decode 720p just fine. No lag or stuttering while watching.
Nexus S has problems at first but then came DicePlayer.

ASUS TF101 as well, had problems but it wasn't because of the tablet. NVIDIA then released new video drivers for Tegra 2 and once I updated my drivers--it decoded 720p fine.

In the end, it is a $99 tablet... we can all say that this is a good thing.
