Nope. Unless you are an very good hacker/spy/etc you're being tracked with just about any piece of technology that is not on a closed LAN network. Hell, I don't have a smartphone but they can triangulate my location and 911 services can also track it when I make the call. If you didn't make the network or didn't tunnel into it then someone/something is logging what you're doing. To what extent is the variable.

Honestly people need to see that this is a bigger problem than you think. Online retailers have already been known to charge prices based on what marketing would show as a user who has a higher demand for a product than another.

I love when people come up with the "I let them track me for free because I help make better products by giving them information" excuse, when really what there doing is learning how to make you want what they already have more. This is a corporation. they don't look at individual cases and spend money on more development, they look at a general trend, then they target it. Its Science of statistics.

Its a shame where the respect for each others privacy has been striped away. Kids born in the 2000's will be completely immune to this because its been like this since they grew up.

With Protect My Privacy, ipFirewall, PrivaCy, and a few other apps my iPhone gives up very little info. It takes time adding domains like *.admob.com to the deny list in the firewall app, but you can save it and it blocks all that crap.

The government always tells us to turn on our phones in case one of the major dikes break. I thought it was common sense that you can be tracked as long as you have connection. About add tracking it can be turned off unless I'm missing something here.
