Off topic, did anyone read the guys post about using his friends and family to buy stuff for him, because he was worried about tracking. Sounds like we might have a tinfoil man in here or some sort of criminal lol biggrin.gif

Yeah, I block ads on my machine and phone. I'm not so much concerned as adamant not to become a product. I started doing this when Amazon started charging people more or less based on their likelihood to pay the increased rate. I was like "no, I'll take the standard ticketed price" and I block all ads across the internets.

This isn't "just something that's normal" if you actively block this crap.

I don't see why it's a problem. The apps will help them display relevant apps most likely.

I do use cash all the time, and I do technically maintain a second residence to use as an address other than the one I sleep at most of the time. I do have a dumb phone, but it is in somebody else's name and I only carry it when leaving my primary residence.

To the point of paranoia it seems. A special phone in someone else's name for use when you leave your house? What are you hoping to accomplish by going so far out of the way to give yourself the illusion of privacy?

That's just it, it isn't going out of the way at all for me. I've always taken my privacy seriously, even back when I was a teenager twenty years ago. Since it has always been a way of life for me, it has been easy to adapt new precautions as new technologies arrive.

As far as what I hope to accomplish, I hope to defend my right to privacy to every extent possible. I take my rights very seriously, and don't just give them up when they seem impractical due to technological advances.

I don't think anybody is out to get me. On the contrary, I know I do nothing exciting enough to warrant observation. That doesn't mean I'm just going to give up what I consider an inalienable human right, however.

I value my privacy as well, but I won't go out of my way to make details about me private if I don't feel it's needed. I guess it's a matter of preference.

Is it even legal to have an account under someone else's name. I guess if you have their express permission. To go to this extent seems like you are doing something very illegal or have one of the largest tin foil hats on the site.

Off topic: I doubt he/she does that. It's too much effort. Also, I guess he doesn't use a bank either right? Hope he's got a pretty good safe at home. That's right, he probably doesn't own a home, since, you know, tracking. So then one must assume he's living with friends/family and either young with parents or mooching off of friends, since, you know, they can't make official lease papers because of tracking. Actually, he must of been born illegally or something and not have a social, because, you know, tracking.

^.^

EDIT: No offense to Chakravant, it's just a pretty wild claim. smile.gif Kudos to you if you value your privacy that much, if only most cared about their fellow human as much as well.
