This is great news for PC builders since they can get a chip with eight cores clocked as high as 4.2 GHz (Turbo Core) below $200. That’s not it, the whole Vishera lineup actually would be available at much affordable rates than expected before, following is a glimpse of the pricing schemes on various Vishera processors:
  • AMD FX-8350 - < $200 US
  • AMD FX-8320 - $175 US
  • AMD FX-6300 - $135 US
  • AMD FX-4300 - $125 US

So they just trying to get rid off there last desktop cpu asap.
Maybe it is not so bad deal sell 1090 for $100 and get 8350 for $200. It should work on 890 chipset, right?

"last desktop cpu?" I've seen people saying this and it's pretty misleading to be honest. For anyone interested the meaning behind this is simply that amd will no longer produce cpu only chips. The rumor is that steamroller fx chips will have on die gpu's like bulldozer was originally planned to, (8130p anyone?) The description of last desktop cpu is misleading, as there will still be amd desktop apu's which are not completely unlike intel's processors with igpu's.

As for the rest of the statement, i doubt they are trying to just get rid of them asap, more likely they are priced where amd believes they need to be, to be competitive with intel's current offerings. If your board is am3+ socket, it should support piledriver, however i doubt boards like the crosshair 4 will get a bios update, as it is using the am3 socket. We won't know for sure what boards will support it until it is released however.


Edit: the screen of the cpu-z shows some interesting info, first off i believe this to be an error or cpu-z didn't update the voltage at the same moment it did the frequency, but .9v @ 4ghz.

Also whoever took the screen appears to be using windows 8, from the look of the cpu-z borders.

You can pretty much tell how these will perform based on Desktop Trinity. AMD processors are budget. They won't have anything that rivals the current i5's in all around performance until Steamroller.

In slightly-thread apps, for sure. It will probably trade blows with it in highly thread apps.

Basically, the performance boost that you get by going from Bulldozer to Piledriver should be similar to the boost Intel got by going from Sandy to Ivy.
