[wccf] AMD Flagship Vishera FX-8350 Processor Would Cost Under $200 - Page 2

Hmmm, there was already a thread that said the top model would cost less than € 200, but costing less than $ 200 is definitely news. That should provide some great competition against the Core i5-3570K. Intel wins on single threaded performance, but having 8 threads for a comparable price should be a good deal for some people.

Given Piledriver is a relatively minor touch-up to Bulldozer, it's been known for a while that Ivy will cream Vishera in single-core benches on a clock-for-clock basis, and even Sandy will still be considerably faster. Vishera, however, will destroy Sandy and at least keep parity with Ivy on multithreaded stuff.

At stock settings, it still won't be as good for gaming as Sandy or Ivy are, but if it's under $200 and unlocked when Intel's lowest-priced unlocked is currently ~$220, it'll still be a good chip for a mid-range machine, especially when OC'd.

Basically, the performance boost that you get by going from Bulldozer to Piledriver should be similar to the boost Intel got by going from Sandy to Ivy.

Its nearly the opposite.

I think better to get used 2600k for same price.

Just for clarity, 1090fx motherboards aren't coming out until steamroller, correct? I'm hoping to get an 8350 with a Crosshair V and hit 5Ghz.

No one knows for sure but steamroller will be am3+ so it will work on older mobos with a bios update.

New vs used. Completely unfair comparison, and the 2600k rarely goes for $200 used. 240-260 is much more likely.

No one knows if there is going to even be a new chipset for Steamroller. All we know is that there is none for Piledriver.

In single threaded applications of course, but the price isn't the factor here. Tho I am sure it will out work a 3570k in multi-threaded applications easily. Its looking like Vishera should be neck and neck with Phenom II in single thread performance. This should be AMD's redemption from Bulldozer, if they can price them accordingly. AMD should gain back some of their fans, as most AMD fans prefer AMD simply because of the price.
