Did you actually read my post back then lol.

I said that gaming favors the 3770K. And almost anything else that would require a powerful CPU in the first place favors the 3930K. tongue.gif

@OP, depends on the price range. If you don't care for going with the 3930K over a 3770K then sure, you'll take an extremely small hit in gaming and will gain around 43% in multithreaded performance. Both CPUs should clock about as well.

In things that really are not to important other then benching or for a company.

He is gaming and Video editing

3770k wins in all those aspects.

What about taking a second look at something other than anand's test suite that pretty much only consists of sysmark. Tom's for example, their suite is more extensive and clearly shows the power of SB-E in situations outside of gaming. With editing you'll also be doing a lot of encoding and stuff, which will clearly favor the 3930K. And that's the stuff that will actually save time. And you have to remember that the 3930K is clocked 300mhz lower in these tests than the 3770K. Both chips OC about as well on traditional cooling.

I would also like to know how 4% to 7% better IPC comes even close to 50% more cores.

4 10% Faster cores 8 threads vs 6 slower cores / 12 threads not 50% more wink.gif

I checked a bunch of toms results that were not on AnAndtech and there so close it is not even funny it also has the 980x winning in alot of the multi core stuff followed by the 3930k/3960x and then the 3770k

I'm not saying the perf difference is 50%. I'm saying the 3930K has 50% more cores than the 3770K. And that it's impossible to match the increase from those with just the puny IPC increase of IB. Hell, without delidding IB the chances are that a 3820 will match a 3770K (3820s are the easiest SB chips to OC, they don't even have igps to slow them down)

3930K is better for multitasking but that does not make 3570K Slow so keep that in mid. I have had all kind of CPUs and i never push them harder then Gaming. Thats why for me Core i5 are more then enough. You would have to do some serious work to benefit form the 6-Core CPU.

When you gonna de lid and join the cool guys? it is really hard to mess up i found it very easy... you just use force on the blade to angle it up into the IHS and not down at the PCB.. and there should be a 0% chance to fail.
