Can't you buy single LEDs at Radio Shack? I feel like that would be an easier option than buying one online

tongue.gif thanks. I thought about using the LED bricks that LEGO makes but I need it to be connected to the motherboard for it to function as the power LED, and the bricks only connect to LEGO power supplies.

I guess I could just buy a single LED but problem is I'm a noob and wouldn't know what to do with it... just hook up two wires from the two little probe things on the LED, and attach them to the front panel headers on the board? Anything I should know lol...

You can basically just connect an LED to the motherboard header.....they are polarised though, so you do need to connect the wires the right way around....

the lego items just need snipped at the connector end
stripped
connected to the standard hd led indicator / power led. connector from either an old led connection or you can find out the part number for the type of connector and hit digikey up for the part
http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l2/g51/c545/list/p1/Connectors-Motherboard_Connectors.html <-- going to be way more expensive than digikey i'm guessing but there ya go.

couldnt you just glue an led behind a clear lego brick? rolleyes.gif
post #19 of 34
You can cut the Lego LED wire and soldier the mobo HDD, Power connector.
If you have an older LEgo train, the engine headlights would work - or try Amazon http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=lego+led+brick+light&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=6700521087&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2008225019128531522&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_6df4oi4kxm_b

Yeah that's pretty much what I'm doing, like I said though I'm a noob so I just didn't know how to connect the LED to the board. Thanks for the tips guys smile.gif

I suppose for updates on the case I should make a separate thread in the work logs section? I'm new here hehe
