I only have one mac computer at my household and I have to resort to burning the .dmg in Windows because the OS is defunct... I have used TransMac to expand and burn the image to a DVD+R DL.. But about 96% of the way through... TransMac complains that 'the disk is not blank, delete rewritable media first'... This is stupid because it is a DVD fresh out of the package... So the burned data to the disk, and complained about there being data there already.. And of course my Mac just spits it out when I try to boot from it... Does anyone recommend a program that I can use to do this correctly for a Mac (not a Boot Camp install disk)?
Please help, I am down to my last DL and they are so expensive...
(Oh by the way, I am trying to install OS X 10.5 Retail)
Edit: This is the G4 with the Dual 1.25GHz CPUs and 2GB DDR

but yes Mac's have been able to boot from / recover from a USB drive for quite a while now, they were ahead of the technology curve in that sense for a while!
