Well dude, I'm a Secondary School student. I make do with my allowance, which is less than 1USD per day. So how do I have the cash for a 1080p monitor and am very close to buying a 650Ti?

Buy a budget camera. No DSLR needed. Just some point and shoot. Buy the snowball. Also, 1920x1080 IS good quality. However, the S3 doesn't exactly have a great lens. For all you know it could be 854x480 upscaled. If you want to do this, you need a decent Camera and a Decent Mic. I Have a Diamond VC500 and I record in S-Video. Now that I have Movie Studio 12 I render in 16:9 with no resample to improve quality. Its all about quality. I don't think you're taking this seriously.

Also. A point and shoot at 8MP is almost always better than a smartphone at 8MP. Better Lens. Megapixels is not accurate. BlackBerry 9700 is 3.2MP while 9780 is 5. The lens was not improved in the 9780 so you get the same quality pics but bigger.

you have no clue what you are talking about but im done with this thread.

to clarify something you clearly dont understand. 1080p aka full HD is roughly 2MP in size. it does not matter how many megapixels your camera has. 1080p will stay that resolution. but if you shoot video with a teeny tiny sensor it will leave you wishing you had more quality if you are even capable of recognizing quality at all.

also there is no "for all you know it could be 854x480" it will say in the fine print if its upscaled. which its not mentioned in the phone specs. the phone is listed as 1920x1080. you cant lie about that without getting bad press coverage for lying.

but carry on with your nonsense thumb.gif
post #23 of 39
I'm fully aware of that. Yeah I said it could be 854x480 upscaled. I doubt it is, but sometimes you get that kind of quality. 1080p is 1920x1080 and 2MP is 1600x1200. I was trying to tell him the same thing. Just because its 1080p doesn't mean its good.

Thre is nothing you just said that I didn't already know. I know what upscaling is, and I know camera quality is based on the lens and sensor. I've seen 8MP cameras take pictures that looked like 854x480.

None of what you said in your post showed you know what youre talking about. Next time proof read before submitting. You will look less like an idiot.

Also why are you soo stuck on 854x480. That resolution is completely irrelevant to video recording and so is still photography.

Learn how to make quality explanations to help inform aomeone rather than these empty statements that post confusing info for people trying to ask for help. Go into more detail on one thing rather than shotgunning useless stuff that the OP doesnt understand anyway. It will go a much longer way than posting just to post, which is what you were doing

If you seriously know what you are talking about then show it. The OP is mire likely to take your advice if you give professional advice. So far the info you have given the OP is barely helpful in my opinion.

/endrant on poor advice given by people with very basic knowledge on video

unless you were planning on repeating what i said in my last post as something you already were trying to say

but next time you find a calculator do 1920*1080. you will find that if you round up it will come out to 2.1MP teaching.gif not that MP matter im just trying to show you that while megapixels dont matter as you clearly explained but that the MP count of a sensor is irrelevant. the size of the sensor and pixel density are much more important to overall quality of the resulting look you can from the video. i didnt see you mention that so just wanted to explain why cell phones and p&s cameras are pretty much on the same level of quality for video. noticeable quality will come from a physically larger sensor not a p&s camera will more MP than a cell phone. but these newer smartpones actually have lenses that can almost be compared to p&s cameras, the smart phone just lacks decent zoom.

if anything i still say you should consider staying with you galaxy s3 and pick up a zoom h1 and sync sound in post. not only will you have excellent audio quality but down the road if you upgrade to a dedicated video camera the h1 will still continue to provide top notch audio quality.

there is no point in spending money on a video camera unless you are going to spend a lot of money. stick with the phone and just improve your ability to capture good audio. but please dont buy those awful $3 mics they will not help enough to even justify using them much less paying for them

I know that the quality of a Camera come from the lens and sensor. I actually said the same thing as you Megapixels don't matter. I don't know how it came across that I said megapixels matter.
what you are saying is also why I'm recommending the Blue Snowball.
