Well dude, I'm a Secondary School student. I make do with my allowance, which is less than 1USD per day. So how do I have the cash for a 1080p monitor and am very close to buying a 650Ti?
Buy a budget camera. No DSLR needed. Just some point and shoot. Buy the snowball. Also, 1920x1080 IS good quality. However, the S3 doesn't exactly have a great lens. For all you know it could be 854x480 upscaled. If you want to do this, you need a decent Camera and a Decent Mic. I Have a Diamond VC500 and I record in S-Video. Now that I have Movie Studio 12 I render in 16:9 with no resample to improve quality. Its all about quality. I don't think you're taking this seriously.
Also. A point and shoot at 8MP is almost always better than a smartphone at 8MP. Better Lens. Megapixels is not accurate. BlackBerry 9700 is 3.2MP while 9780 is 5. The lens was not improved in the 9780 so you get the same quality pics but bigger.

not that MP matter im just trying to show you that while megapixels dont matter as you clearly explained but that the MP count of a sensor is irrelevant. the size of the sensor and pixel density are much more important to overall quality of the resulting look you can from the video. i didnt see you mention that so just wanted to explain why cell phones and p&s cameras are pretty much on the same level of quality for video. noticeable quality will come from a physically larger sensor not a p&s camera will more MP than a cell phone. but these newer smartpones actually have lenses that can almost be compared to p&s cameras, the smart phone just lacks decent zoom.
