Is the refresh rate limited by the panel itself or by the PCB controlling the panel?
I see that there are a few places such as 120hz.net and Overlord that are just modifying Catleaps to run past 60 Hz by replacing the PCB with a custom one. And there were reports of older catleap models with the old PCB that could overlock to 75+ Hz.
If it's just the PCB that controls the refresh rate, why aren't the companies (Yamakasi, Achieva, Crossover, etc. ) creating PCBs capable of 120 Hz and charging a bit more for them?
