So I went down to my local Goodwill and found 6 of these that had been pulled from a server that had been donated. I would like to use them in my build, but I have no idea where to start. I know I am going to need a raid card, but which one? There are a few in the marketplace here that are priced right and if these drives are worth using I am going to pick one up. What do you guys think? They drives are 146GB and the part # is ST3146855SS

Yeah, I saw them one a shelf and realized what they were and got the guy at the register to give them to me for about half of what the sticker price was. I just don't know what to do with them. Should I resell them or try and make a raid setup for my current system?

I'd assume that if they were from a donated box then it is possible that some if not all dont work properly or have bad sectors

yes they are great cards, i would get one and try them out in RAID 5.. also have a look at this thread

They were probably pulled from a decommissioned machine so they may all still be in working order, tho are these SAS/SATA or Ultra320 SCSI?

If its the latter they won't be worth the hassle imo.
