Well the date code puts these drives being manufactured July 7, 2012, I hit the jackpot! 3 of them are labeled 08 by the rack # and the other 3 are labeled 07.

Edit: Crap, it looks like they haven't changed the config code on these drives in a while therefore there is no way I can properly interpret the age of the drives. Does anyone know if there are any other ways of finding the date these were manufactured?

Alright, these drives were made in 2008, I am not really sure if they are worth trying to get working. What do you guys think? I am going to add a poll.

since they are SAS/SATA drives cant you put them in maybe on or two at a time your rig's intel sata port and run CrystalDiskInfo and look for any bad sectors.. then i would get a dell perc card and RAID 5 them as long as you have 3 or more working smile.gif

So the Z68 chipset supports SAS? I was under the impression it didn't. If it does I am going to cut up a Sata cable and try them out.

While you can use a SATA drive on a SAS controller you cannot use a SAS drive on a SATA controller.

the controller does, the motherboard just doesn't have the right ports IIRC
