is the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 good enough for gaming and overclocking the i7 3770k? and is the stock thermal paste on it good. If not whats a good heat sink that will fit in the NZXT alpha case.

Its a good little cooler, i don't know how well it will do for a i7 3770k but i had it on a AMD 965BE and it over clocked to 3.8 stable with max temps reaching 50c. I actually just replaced it with a Thermaltake Water 2.0 Performer. It's still in good shape and i have it put up just in case. I had it for 3yrs. wink.gif

The 3770k will put out too much heat to overclock very high with this cooler. It is better than stock, but it is not as good as you should go. If you want a nice cooler for a nice price, check out the S1283 by Xigamtek. Then grab the crossbow bracket for it.

Or even better, the Hyper 212 Evo is a monster for the price.  It takes no prisoners.

Should be fine.

I think you can do SOME overclocking on this cooler. I pushed a q6600 to 3.4 on one back in the day with the old push pin design. A moderate OC should be OK on the rev2.

I agree with that. You may be able to do 4.2-4.3 on that cooler.

I know this isn't a 3770k but fwiw i've got that cooler on a 3570k pushing 4.2GHZ @ ~70 degrees loaded up, and I've still gotta pull more vcore out of it. So like above, you should be able to OC a little bit on it.

Too loud. I retired mine.
