What the heck do you back up to? Or is it a case of one of your unRAID servers acting as backup to the other one? Been planning to create an rsynced mirror of my unRAID server, unfortunately, HDD prices are still too high at the moment. :sigh:

I back up EVERYTHING.

I raid1 my Steam games on 2x2TB drives in an eSata enclosure.

I raid1 my "random storage" (where my documents is stored) on 2x1TB drives in a USB3 enclosure.

I raid1 my media drive (movies, music, etc) on 2 1.5TB greens.

I even back up my desktop, local documents (where game saves are stored) and all AppData to a drive inside my local dev server via cobian backup every 4 hours, zipped and timestamped, cause I never know if/when my boot SSD will just up and die, and I keep some stuff on my desktop.

On TOP of all this, I back up to live drive once a month (canadian "limited" bandwidth) in case the impossible happens and all my drives die simultaneously.

Good enough?

Depends on whether you're backing up 1:1 Blu-ray and DVD rips versus re-compressed AVI and MKV stuff.

unless you are crazy like murlocke most people dont tongue.gif . Most HD rips are 7-10GB and TV shows are 350MB/1hr for SD and 1.1ish GB for HD I have a mixture of both

but even if i added 1:1 rips of the 366 blu-rays that i own thats only 10TB

Meh, Ill just whine and complain about it when it fails biggrin.gif

Really though, I goofed and deleted my PS3 HDD and it wasnt backed up, luckily I lose all attachment to saved game files once I am doing playing the game and I typically only play one game a at a time. Skyrim in this instance which we all know is better on PC anyway. It motivated me to go sell all my old PS3 games at gamestop and buy a couple PC games (skyrim included) instead!

Nice thing is that the playstation store keeps track of everything you buy and I was able to redownload all my games in a few hours.

I have my pictures on 2 of 3 computers and when I do finally get organized they will go on the 3rd computer. Thats the only thing I would consider devastating if I lost.

Nope, RAID is not backup, only a part of it. wink.gif
