hmmmmm... This would be really cool to enter, just not so sure about having to buy a graphics card. I was actually thinking of spending a bit more money on an 8800 gt or something like that for an older gaming rig but perhaps I'll forget about that and just get myself a 210 and do this little competition.

The thing I'm worried about is would my cpu be a bottleneck or limiting factor in the benchmarks? I'd run this in my test bench which has an AMD Athlon II X2 250u (the u is energy efficient junk) running at the stock 1.6GHz. Would that make my scores lower than someone else's with a better processor but the same clocked card?

The GT 210 is so weak that I don't think 03' will be affected too much, but you'll definitely be crushed by people running SB/Ivy in 01'

That's unfortunate, so do you think I have a chance at all in 01?

Also can someone recommend me a nice 210?

A ddr3 with a 64bit bus is what you want to look for.  Thats the GT218 core. thumb.gif

I'm considering getting one of the ASUS 210's because they have the biggest heatsinks of all of the 210's so with a ton of fans, it should cool the best.

Not a bad choice, also consider power quality, if you plan to pump the volts, having a good power phase stage is helpful. some cards are also based off of their big brother cards, and can be easily upgraded with some surface mount and through hole soldering.... lots to consider...

Well honestly, I am HORRIBLE at sodering. I'm even a bit worried about how bad it'll be to soder little wires to the legs of those IC's for the resistors and what not. theres no way I'll surface mount anything but I can easily soder through hole.

And yes I do plan to do a volt mod (if my sodering skills are up to it). Do you know which cards have better power phases?
