I installed ICS on my Tab 10.1 a few weeks ago. Everything seemed to be working fine until today when I tried Allshare.

Man, was it broken. I was pretty pi$$ed for a while because this is the main reason why I purchased the Tab 10.1 in the first place. Allshare is a great app, and I have an excellent version on my phone. The version in the Galaxy Tab Gingerbread installation isn't all that great, but it was functional and always worked.

When I went to use Allshare on my Tab today, it was just plain broken. It would only show videos stored on the tablet, and the music would count up to 160 and then reset to zero, then recount and so on. I was pretty unhappy and thought perhaps it just needs a re-installation. I did this with a few of my other apps to get them working properly. Too bad that this is an app that comes with the tablet and is not available for download.

After messing around with it for an hour, I finally found that if I did the factory reset, Allshare really shone. Suddenly it worked more like the version on my Galaxy phone, but even better. It lists all the DLNA devices, allows you to select one and then browse the file structure just like on my phone. It no longer requires a few minutes to populate the listings, and no longer requires the tablet be in portrait mode while listing devices and media. It does all this on the left side of the app while displaying a media player on the right side.

I am very happy with this app now. Unfortunately there is one problem. It's not a major issue and I can get along without it, but I would still like to solve it.

I have two NASs. One is a ReadyNAS Duo, and one is a WD Mybook. Both have always worked on my tablet, phone and PS3. The ReadyNAS is really just used to back up all the media from the WD Mybook, and my PC.
Now, the ReadyNAS Duo works as good as it ever has, no problems with it. Unfortunately, my WD Mybook 1Tb NAS will not work with Allshare. It lists the media fine, but when I go to play a movie it will give me an error "Unsupported File Format".

I have reset and rebooted the NAS. which is about all I can do without risking a firmware update. To be fair, a firmware update has a possibility of correcting this issue, but considering all the people on the WD site complaining about their NAS being bricked by a firmware update, I decided to stay away from them. Others have lost the entire content of their NAS by doing a firmware update on that unit. I will try this as a last resort.

I was hoping that, perhaps, someone on ocn might have a clue why this one NAS is causing this error. Perhaps some setting I could change that might get things rolling again? If not, I will have to risk a firmware update. I'm not concerned about the media, since it's all backed up, but I would like to avoid the possibility of killing my cheap NAS, not to mention the long slow process of copying 1Tb of data from the backup NAS to the WD Mybook at about 6Mb/s (write speed of the WD NAS).

Any ideas?
