So suggestions on RAM?

Thinking of going 1600mhz again, and either 8gb or 16gb.

Suggestions?

the reason it's all at 9-9-9-24 is because you won't notice anything higher in real world apps.... Benches yeah you'll see it.

It's it's probably down to the IMC on the processors that have been released.

Ram is so cheap at the moment so get 8GB from a decent name. I personally went with the Dominator GTs for my Z77 build.

I got them for a bargain price of £43 from Amazon. Not bad when my 6GB Dominator (standard) cost me £195, or near abouts.

I would try your ram and see if it works (I see no reason it shouldn't) before buying new ram.

*edit*
I just noticed you have a triple channel kit. Disregard my previous statement and just buy new memory.

Because I wouldn't have noticed that ^^^^ already :-p

Ha nice.

Yeah I scored lucky I paid $100 for the 6gigs, 2 weeks later they got pushed to $200 per kit, like all the others. And its still a damn good kit. gets a bit toasty like most OCZ kits, but stable as butter and lots of overclocking headroom, nice combo for i7-920.

Figure ill get 16gb of whatever is cheapest at 1600mhz (see no reason to go higher) and that should have me set for a while.

Now I think the best configuration will be 4x4gb.

Don't ,

Go with 2x8 gig, then you can get a max of 32gb later on... I think it's 32gb. Also go with something that has low heatspreaders... The bigger spreaders sometimes get in the way of the HSF

HS aren't a problem, the V8 is a tall cooler (one of the tallest) so it goes way above the RAM sticks.

Also the Asus board (probably the one I am going to go with) has 8 slots and quad channel memory, so my logic is the more channels in use the more memory bandwidth no?
hence 4x4gig, then I still have 4 slots left, that I probably will never use.
