Galaxy GeForce GTX 680 GC 4GB
SAPPHIRE Toxic Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB

Which is better considering scaling for crossfire and sli?
And which has higher minimum fps and average fps?
Assuming that games shall be run on Ultra with AA maxed in resolution from (1920x1080 upto 5760x1080 or greater on 120Hz).

Also which will be better for rendering and other graphics demanding application?
keep in mind the SAPPHIRE has the "lethal boost" mode.
Thank you.

Crossfire really shines in 3-way. The scaling will be much better IIRC. Also if you decide to over clock the 7970 will oust the 680's.

You have GTX 670 and GTX 690 and you recommend the AMD?

Do you have some links to reviews at higher res, I really need to find some with SLI/Xfire overclocked at 1440p.

You only need three GPUs for eyefinity and you need three of the same video outputs for it to work without horrible screen tearing so I wouldn't be looking at the toxic. I'd say Lightnings instead.

I've had Devil 13 HD 7990, Lightning HD 7970 xfire, GTX 690, GTX 680 4GB SLI and at 3860x1920P I preferred the AMD cards. So stick with AMD but go ASUS or MSI.

OP you don't need HD 7970 6GB. Get the Sapphire HD 7970 3GB with dual x cooler model. its very good. 3GB is enough for 5760 x 1080 . also 2 cards are enough to max out the latest games . CF scaling is not so good beyond 2 cards.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202008

HD 7970 CF (1.05 Ghz) in BF3 at 5760 x 1080 Ultra 4x MSAA running at close to 50 fps. you can easily go above 50 fps by running at 1.1 - 1.15 Ghz.

here is a review of the sapphire hd 7970
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/04/10/sapphire_hd_7970_oc_edition_video_card_review/3

these cards have some of the highest overclocks. But since you are running in CF make sure you have atleast 4 slots space between the cards. the cooler takes 2.5 slots.

As for the Devil 13 aka powercooler 7990 , well i can't have this one.
3GB might be enough , but i am not sure if it will be enough @120hz , also i am i have been told of certain games that uses upto 2.8GB VRAM (might be skyrim.)
I am not an average gamer , i only play certain very very demanding games , and i also want it for graphics demanding applications (near future).

But any way , as i recall you recommend the AMD.
