A 15" Chromebook? Eww. I think you're missing the point.

Not really. That's just another gap in the market, there aren't very many 15" laptops that are 0.5" thick or less (and a 15" Chromebook probably would be 0.5" or less) or with a 12+ hour battery life. Most people only use computers for facebook and youtube anyway, and because it won't be very powerful it would also be quite cheap. I'm not saying they would sell like hotcakes but they probably would sell quite well.

I agree with the 'too expensive' comments. For me to adopt ChromeOS, it needs to undercut similar spec'd Intel/AMD + Win7 netbooks.

I was disappointed with the less battery in the new one, but on my current 500 series i get about 8-9 hours.

How is it not undercutting?

Ill wait to see if they can install Ubuntu on this and see some benchmarks. If all goes well I might pick this up. There arent any netbooks AFAIK that come with an SSD and are this light, even if it is only 16gb. This will be a supplement to my desktop system for using the internet and using word processing etc.

But then again you could get a 250$ netbook and buy a 50$ 64gig ssd and have much more space. How would atom CPUs stack up to this ARM processor?

that's very cheap. Cheaper than a Nexus 7 over in the UK. Tempted just to test it out!

man is this really that good? I really have been looking at something to use in bed/on the couch to surf forums on and watch the occasional youtube video and browse pictures on so I dont have to be at my desk 100% of the time. Would this be good for that, or would I be better off with a tablet for the price? (transformer prime is coming down to 250$ used)
