For those who want the best bang for your buck and want to see where the AMD/ATI cards lie in terms of performance for Boinc and the projects you can run.

has the 7xxx that fit in the top 20 as well biggrin.gif

So would a 5970 out preform a 7950? CRAZY eek.gif Well they must be good cards if they are going for $250 and up on ebay.

edit: duh me, didn't even realize the 5970 was a dual gpu. That explains a lot.

problem is, projects such as disTrRgen have apps more optimized for the 79xx series so they perform 2-3 times faster on that project than the 69xx and the 58xx versions. crazy

The DUAL GPU cards are misleading in that they perform no better than two singles in most cases. The one exception where multiple GPU's can be used for one task seems to be Moo! Wrapper... or DNET tasks. All the other projects I've run use a single GPU per task. Soo, the total GFLOPS is misleading since it adds two GPU outputs together.

And DIRT has done something nasty since it in fact runs 5 times faster on a 7970 than a 6970/6990... It's an OpenCL optimization or something and it doesn't like the HD69xx series GPU's for some reason...

Nice list though...

I think that optimization is, in part, due to the different architectures used by the cards (79xx is GCN, whereas 69xx is VLIW4). So, even though you can compare the flops, shaders, etc., it's tough to quantify the benefit to each individual project because of those architectural differences. thinking.gif

Don't forget to add POEM. If you run multiple WU's, you should be right up at (or very near) the top of the list.

What are they crunching to get these results? Multiple wu's from different projects or just one standard.

I meant multiple POEM WU's at the same time. For example, I have 4 POEM WU's run on my 6950/70 at the same time.
