So after reading in Case Mods that someone wanted to use PlastiDip to change the colour of their SATA ports I thought of something. Has anyone tried using Plastidip instead of Vaseline to insulate a motherboard for LN2 overclocking? Theoretically if you could get a good enough coverage you'd be safe and then when you are done you can just peel the dip off. No more greasy motherboards?

I like this idea. I've seen a bit about this Plastidip stuff and as long as it can handle a couple of knocks here and there and the temperatures, this could work well. It may get stuck under components though.

I wouldn't use it on any sockets or pins because it's pretty much spray paint before it dries. Even after it dries, it doesn't exactly come off as a nice single sheet like everyone says, so you'll spend some time getting it out of small spaces.

The thicker the coat, the easier it peels. If using it on a motherboard, I would suggest the brush-on variant rather than the more popular aresol type. Just goop it on nice an thick and you should be OK. Will take a while to dry though.

Alternatively, you can just get some LET, which is actually designed for insulation of electrical systems. More expensive though.
