My brand new HTPC! Pictures included!

Hi!

I just finished my HTPC, and everything runs smoothly, mostly by the help of the people in my previous thread smile.gif

As of specs goes, the little monster packs the following:

Mobo: ASRock E350M1
CPU: AMD E-350, 1.6 Ghz. Dual Core
RAM: 4 Gb. Corsair ValueSelect 1333 Mhz.
SSD: 60 Gb. OCZ Vertex 2 Extended
Case: LC-Power LC-1340mi
PSU: Integrated 72W

I use MPC-HC to playback the movies, TV-shows and what not, which are stored on some shared HDDs in my main rig.

I only have two "problems", and those are noise and heat. It is quite noisy, but you tend to forget it, when you watch a movie or something, and it does get a little hotter than what I expected. But then again, the case isn't really the best cooling wise. Small, cute and sexy, but not very cooling friendly.

But enough rambling from me! Here are the pictures (sorry if some, or all, are bad frown.gif )

First I got half of the parts home:

Just for comparisons...

Then put those parts together...

Rest of the parts arrive

Just thought it was a funny SDD/HDD mount smile.gif

Assembled internal shots...

You can just see the SSD mounted here...

The finished product...

The HTPC working in all its glory smile.gif

I hope you like it! I definitely do! smile.gif

Thank you! smile.gif Hmm... I actually don't know. I think LC-Power is German, so might be unavailable in the US. But you must have some sort of equivalent by you smile.gif

Thank you! smile.gif Ah, well, it would be quite hard getting it down this small whilst using it as network storage...

Thanks to all of you for your kind words! Not used to getting that positive feedback (in anything actually), so it warms my heart smile.gif

For some reason it hates VLC Player. If you plan on using it for anything else than streaming movies (i.e. have Windows 7 installed on it), you should use Media Player Classic Home Cinema to play movies. I have no problems, and surround through my LG Blu-Ray player works flawlessly too!

- folks within another thread of mine were really helpful too smile.gif

- and thanks alot! smile.gif

The heat issue has been somewhat dealt with. I did a complete re-apply of TIM (there was some really gnarly stuff on it. Almost rubbery, like chewing gum!), and moved the box to where it is the pictures. It was sitting on top of the set-top box on the bottom shelf before. By moving it, and re-applying TIM, the temps fell from 50 C to about 35-40 C - while playing a movie smile.gif

A small update: I resolved the noise issue. By removing the two 40 mm fans which blew air out the side of the case, I managed to reduce the noise quite a bit, and the CPU doesn't get too hot. Had it running for at least 14 hours straight the other day, and not a single issue smile.gif
