sooo i got crossfire 7950's with a phenon II x4 965, and im planning on upping to an 8350, but i was using the psu calc and it said i might run into an issue. I have an ax650 right now that i just got, and it seems that if i were to run bulldozer i would need 725watts, seeing as piledriver is gonna be better do you think im gonna have issues running pile driver with 2 7950s? i havent had any issue's yet, but ive been thinking about getting a watt calculator to see how much power im using.

The AX650 is a good psu.
You should be okay, though. Calculators are entirely estimated and based upon a maximum power draw that could occur. If you were to get a kill-a-watt meter and check the draw with just the 965 and 7950's to get a baseline for your usage, you could estimate the CPU change a lot closer.

also since im basing this off the bulldozer specs, how come if both are 125watt cpus would a 8150 pull more wattage than a 965. just a random question I figure it probably has something to do with the person who made the program.

Newegg has them. Bulldozer is known for high power consumption in very demanding situations.

Bulldozer easily pulls more power then Phenom II, but one of the fixes in Piledriver was to remedy the power usage.
I'd wait for reviews on piledriver before buying it, because if the power usage is fixed, it should be pretty easy to fit a 8350 and 2 7950's (those cards usually sip power unless under a massive overclock).
Plus, your power supply is really efficient, so I'd say you'll be fine, but you may want to buy a kill-a-watt meter to make sure you aren't drawing too much power with that hardware (I bought this 750w because I wanted enough power incase I went crossfire).

yeah i had a ultra lsp 750 but i threw it in my gfs comp, i got all these parts for very little so i couldn't argue with that, the 650 was given to me, albeit i picked it but i did not expect to be surprised with a second 7950. there is a guy in my state with an hx750 and i might trade with him, but ill defiantly wait, and im going to have to because i can get parts at a discount but i have to wait for them to come out so ill end up having to wait a week or so anyways before i buy.
ill see if my local radio shack does not happen to have some instock.

Also I would say with the power that BD drains even with an improvement to PD I would air on the side of caution and maybe move up to a 750w or more. There is always the SB/IVY argument but if you plan to stick to AMD I would advise a bigger PSU just to be safe.

well, i got a brand new mobo and i was considering switching over to the i series, but i mean honestly i love amd and i dont think i would make much of a return if i sold the mobo and cpu and bought an i5 instead. i would also end up buying a new cpu block and having to reformat, seems easier just to swap out psu's. But it kinda all teeters on whether piledriver delivers and does not bottle neck 7950s in crossfire.

I'm not sure PD can improve enough to put it on par with SB/IVY in high end SLI/CF rigs, to me it would not be a question on IF it doesn't but how much?
I hope for the best for amd as this is my first intel CPU in over 15 years and would love to go back to AMD for the bang for buck but since I'm using SLI even with these lowly card my old PHII @ 3.7 couldn't really keep up.
I will hope for the best though, and hopefully PD helps enough with power consumptions to help with higher OC's to negate or lessen those bottleneck situations .
