1. Positioning, sound stage

2. Overall sound quality

3. Comfortable design

why are you looking for #1 and #2 if you are listening to metal and hard rock. i think if your listening to a little softer music then i would be looking for soundstage and quality.
look for a headphone with soild bass and easy to drive with comfort. mybe look at beats hp's.

best sub-200 headphones. look at all the reviews, they're great.
i have a pair of them, and theyre much better than a few $350 headphones i tried.
only problem is they're a closed-ear design (they have great noise isolation), if you dont mind that then theyre the headphones for you.

For this budget definately get the Xonar DG for the headphone amp. The amp works very well for headphones under 100ohm.
