Like everyone saved BFG? If amd dies they die and the doom and gloom forecast that everyone seems to say about how intel will raise prices is ludicrous. Intel's mainstream processor prices have been the same exact prices since Lynnfield. Intel's current ivy bridge processors are a bargain imo.

Ill repost what I said when someone mentioned buying stocks at $2.70. (They would have already lost 15% of their money)

Buying a stock that is likely to see major devaluation in the next few weeks is a bad idea, doesn't matter what the long term outlook is.

Very close to the stock's all time low. I say buy at 2. you might lose short term but long term you'll make a mint.

Buy in price affects the long term. A lot.

Consider a member here who bought $100 of AMD at $5 a few months ago. Lets assume in a year AMD stock goes up to $10.(I'm not saying it will) He will have doubled his money, and have $200.

If someone bought now at $2.20, then a $10 stock price would more than quadruple his money and he'd have $454.

The chances that AMD price will suddenly rebound and you'll miss a good deal are zero. The chances that the stock will go still lower are good.

In all seriousness, I hope they pull out of it. Competition breeds better products.

Nope but Trinity is a fine looking general purpose and HTPC setup. Better overall (Intel and the general compiler and instruction set bias will hold AMD back for pure CPU) for the buck. Hell, a C-60 or E-350/450 would do well for most people.

Right they are a bargain because they are still in some form of competition. if this is no longer the case they will discontinue improvements and price their products as high as the market will allow, the used CPU market will flourish, and PC's will probably become more of a specialist product, which will drive the prices up further. Have fun with your tablet masses.

This is all AMD's fault. If they hadn't had the "more cores is better" philosophy they wouldn't be in this situation. Remember when bulldozer came out and they were like OMG *8* cores!!*

Because of the diminishing returns of more cores (more cores means more heat, power usage, and not every program is multi threaded), now they're paying the price. More cores isn't the answer. The Core Wars were over a long time ago.

I love the APUs and wish that it would take off more in the consumer market as they really are superior, imho, to intel's overall offering when you see what the Trinity chips offer. There is so much in that little chip and it really is at a sweet point for the consumer and oem. Yes the hd 4000 is enough, but look at what is coming down the line in monitor advancement. 4k res, Apple is already there (ppi range), on their macbooks both 15'' and soon to be 13''. The 13''' is going to struggle with that hd4k at the res they are trying to pump out after the scaling and all is done. A mobile APU is much more capable of handling that than the hd4k. Haswell may be a different story, but then again intel cuts back on image quality to make the performance better.

Either way they need to find someway of surviving while the APU penetrates the market. It may mean taking the Board of directors out back and beating them with sticks and stones, and personally idc. AMD deserves to keep trucking forward. The idiots up top are ruining the company and hurting their bottom line, they have done nothing right. There was a good article laying this out. Was very in depth about how the AMD uppers decided that advancement in chip design should be second to their marketing campaign. Panned out real well.

The graphics division should be fine no matter what.
