All 1155 chips only do 16 PCIe lanes. If you want more you need to go LGA 2011 which has 40 PCIe lanes. The bridge chips added on these high end 1155 motherboards adds unwanted latency so anything > 2-way SLI/CFX will suffer performance compared to a 2011 comparable setup.

The latency that you speak of is only 100 nanoseconds according to PLX NDA.

That was probably because of the fact that your Nvidia nF200 chip which is paired together with a PLX branded PCIe controller/switch adds even more latency.
