How to carry a CPU?

Thread Starter
I have sell my 2500k to my friend and I have to go back to my parent house to build the PC since it is impossible to build a PC in my small apartment.

I don't have the plastic case that come with it. Actually, I will take it out of my computer and build is computer with is but I have 200km (around 125 miles) to do in car and I don't want to damage it. I have also 2 stick of ram to carry but I'm less worry with it.

Since the CPU have no pin to bend, I will be hard to do physical damage to it but I'm more worry about the corner and the chip it self. Things like static discharge and other fear me.

If you have some idea how to pack it to carry it safely, I will be freaking happy.
Thanks, Lee17

If you have any anti-static bags from motherboards or video cards laying around, throw the CPU into one and wrap it up.

I would not worry about static much. wrap it in a small cloth and put in a zip lock bag. It Should keep anything from happening.

No, since I'm in apartment and I build all my computer at home, I don't have any package left from my components

If I don't have any anti static bags I use newspaper or paper towels. They work great and also add a little more protection.

Avoid static from plastic, unless it's an anti static bag. I ditto the cardboard idea but just be very careful that you don't bend/damage a pin on it.
