Just feed the modem to the WAN port on the router...
And who said a device on a separate subnet required NATing? All you need is a router to route traffic between the two subnets (derp that's how the internet works, basically). Although no, that is stupid and not necessary as already mentioned.
EDIT: Right okay, scratch most of that... you've got a few solutions:
1. Obey your parents. You lose.
2. Just turn the router back on. Risk getting caught again. You lose.
Even if you DID manage to make it work with the router unplugged (not possible), your parents would still catch you using the internet, so you'd lose.
