I think all reservoirs should have caps with inner threads....caps with outer threads put outward pressure on the acrylic ends, ie applying force in the worst direction to the weakest part of the acrylic tube, which why so easy to crack when over tightened and then put under pressure in our systems. Inner threads will apply perpendicular force... much less expansive/cracking tension.

I forgot to ask earlier, do the new pump tops for the D5's (dual & single) have improved head pressure/flow rates compared to the older EK gen of pump tops? I can't wait to take delivery of my X3 RES, I love the orientation of the threaded ports! From the pictures we will need a short extension/extenders to reach the thread under the bottom of the X3 RES, right?

Please tell me there will be a plexi pump top with the threading for a res?biggrin.gif

Cool, inner threading finallly. The big benefit to the change is now the acrylic tube end is put in compression pushing in on when threaded as the male thread into the female end caps.

Should theoretically reduce the chance of cracking the acrylic that way and hide the thread too.thumb.gif

Guy's it's already available for purchase on EK's web store, I should have my EK-RES X3 by middle of the week!

If only there was a base adapter for the v.2 Dual Top, or offer a "trade up" program for previous owners.

I like how they finally moved to reservoir caps with inner instead of outer threads, makes the entire reservoir look better and should help reduce thread acrylic cracking.

Like a circle? biggrin.gif But, at least there are so few of them on the reservoir that it is now tolerable by a larger audience.

Are the filters becoming standard now?

Any problems with putting a filter in my X2?
