Real Temp GT and CPU-Z Not Showing Correct Multiplier?

Thread Starter
Look for yourself, any reason for this? I set the multiplier to 46 and its only showing 4.2-4.3 under prime95. You can see on the CPU Gadget it is at 4.6 Ghz but not in Real Temp GT or CPU-Z

For Ivy Bridge, Core Temp is more accurate all around - although, I am not saying that either Real Temp or Core Temp should be trusted to be accurate with the clock speed or multiplier.

For CPU-Z, I recommend trying an earlier version starting with 1.60.1 and working backwards from there if necessary:

It was probably applying some settings that were set in the software by default thereby overriding these settings that you have set in the BIOS.  I don't know what that setting (or those settings) could have been, but one setting that I'm suspecting is Turbo because you have it disabled in the BIOS.

So, it probably would have been no problem if you hadn't changed any settings in the BIOS because then you wouldn't have been seeing unexpected behaviors.

Yeah, with ET6 I now have a 4.7 stable. Might try for 4.8 but I was getting in the 90's in Prime95 so it might not be safe but under normal gaming load I was 79 C max so I might try it biggrin.gif

If you use software to overclock the BCLK while in Windows then it would be a good idea to test your computer with WinTimerTester. BCLK overclocking while in Windows 7 can screw up the accuracy of the high performance timer.

Here's a good thread about this issue:

For Ivy Bridge, Core Temp is more accurate all around...

Why is that? CPU-Z and RealTemp were both correct in telling funkmetal that his CPU was not running with the 46 multiplier. If RealTemp is reporting a different BCLK compared to CPU-Z, I guarantee you that the system timers are screwed up due to BCLK overclocking. This is a Windows 7 issue that is easy to fix by following the information in the above thread.
