Edit: forgot the link! Oops

Thanks Wenis, I've actually watched many videos, including the one you linked, it's a good one. Just wondering mostly about the issues with the silicone pathways and if I did any harm by scraping the epoxy off the connection point there. Since you're an electrician, what do you think?

The epoxy is just to combat corrosion. As long as you don't damage any copper traces you should be good

what about solder getting on the silicone pathways, you can see how close they are in this picture.

If I cross over that pathway to the left with solder, will it cause problems with the board>?

The simple answer to your question is yes it will mess up your pump. However you can buy a soldering iron with fine tips that are designed for delicate electronics. They key to soldering is having a tip that is clean of corrosion, with enough heat to quickly solder, but not hot enough to damage your components or lift the traces off the pcb. Is why I suggest you either practice on a cheap board, or purchase a new pump with a wire already soldered for you!

Ok, I should be already ahead on that one, I have a 25W iron (500 deg max?) and thin soldering/resin core, with a fine tip designed for electronics. Seems like an awfully small space to not let solder migrate anywhere. OK, well now that I know it will screw up my board, I'm going to have to get some sort of clamp system so there are no mistakes. I've already gone this far, can't sell out now!

Hrm something woke me up. I passed out on the couch sleeving, haha.

Here are my results so far. Let me know what you think about the colors. Not bad, but not incredible. I'm undecided.
