How do I get games to run in 2560x1440?

A little background---

I have an HP 2711 monitor which natively supports 1080 resolution. Through the Nvidia control panel, I was able to make a custom resolution of 2560x1440 (and 65hz) and to my surprise it WORKS and looks amazing!

My problem is, beyond BF3, I cannot get any games to run in 1440. BF3 looks amazing and smooth, so I know this rez works. It just does not show up as an option for any other games.

Any tips? The games specifically that I'm trying to get it to work for are Xcom: Enemy Unknown, Smite, Torchlight 2, and Borderlands 2. Thanks guys.

As I said, 2560x1440 does not show as an option for any game besides BF3.

I have an EVGA reference GTX 670.

Your display has a native 1080p panel and you created a custom 2560x1440 resolution and it worked? rolleyes.gif

You must have been smoking the good stuff me thinks. How your display managed to spontaneously create 1.5Million more pixels would be fascinating.

A LCD can't display more then its native resolution. Forcing/hacking it so that the GPU renders at 2560x1440 is like a crappy version of supersampling with worse performance and visulas. 1080p monitors should be run at 1080p for the best quality.

i did the same with my hp 2408..yes it forced the resolution to 1600p and it ran my gpus alot harder but in all reality its a 1080p monitor..it shrinks the pixels to make it seem like it..but its not a 1600p monitor..
