They are, without a doubt, the worst SSD manufacturer. I rather buy a generic brand before putting a 20ft pole between my computer and an OCZ drive.

No, we aren't talking about how good they are as a manufacturer... its only that some OCZ inverstors have started class action lawsuits against the board of OCZ because... well, lets just look at the stock quote:

http://www.google.com/finance?cid=15927159

The company has lost like 75% of its value in the last months. A rumour stated that Seagate wanted to buy OCZ and such rumour spiked the price... but, something happened in between and the company is on the floor and I'm not sure it will come back :S

Or patient. Let it get as low or lower than it was a few years ago, then gamble and buy some. I like the idea myself. biggrin.gif

OCZ makes garbage SSDs. I'd rather be using a 5400RPM HDD than one of their SSDs.

Nothing wrong with my OCZ..

Now that the economy is slowly picking back up, AMD will be right back where they were a year ago.

Well

Play it safe and stay away.

The thing about AMD's HSA is that its competitors are already there(Intel was there before AMD with Clarkdale)... There are already GPU driven applications for Intel(QuickSync) and Photoshop already takes advantage of Intel's iGPU. Nvidia has its own propriety programming language and is heavily invested in its API and will soon ship an ARM CPU core with its GPUs. Yes, HSA is open source but open source software works on Intel and Nvidia IPs as well.

Their CPUs are holding them back. Maybe they can start designing CPUs around the ARM ISA and be competitive there..

Remember that producing the fastest chip is almost meaningless when it comes to one company being "un-investable" or successful. It's more about OEM deals and being able to fall back on funds if things get sticky.

Besides, wasn't AMD's loss last year over $300 million? Isn't this an improvement?

Anyway, I see their APUs being successful in laptops and aren't the next consoles going to have AMD chips too? It just sounds like famine before a feast to me.

In a stale economy technology always seems to suffer as far as investments. I think AMD just needs to get their house in order to bring confidence. Their products arent bad. Bulldozer is still a good cpu and their apu line is GREAT for the price. Not to mention everything else they have their hand in.
