[ARS] Analyst calls AMD "un-investable," downgrades rating - Page 9

Analysts analyzing a market they dont know how to analyze? Considering AMD even is hiring GPU Engineers in my area again, they wont be gone anytime soon. plus...if they ever hit rock bottom, the only place to go is up if they survive doomsday.

Why waste your money trying to support a company that hasn't been able to, and still can't, produce worthwhile and desirable products.
...and they won't need to... and everyone is forgetting what AMD is trying to do with HSA
post #83 of 105
And guys don't forgot the Intel bought all of AMDs CPU Engineers when AMD was beating Intel with there Athlon x2 line, so AMD had to retired some new people to start engineering new CPUs. It will take most company about 10-15 yrs to catch back up. It has been about 10 yrs ago and AMD is slowly catching back up with the new Piledriver FX line. Don't forget that AMD was going after multi threading apps with the FX line and for the most part is beating Intel in that area. Now AMD is working on IPC.

EDIT
AMD took a hit when they bought ATI and if they didn't do that AMD would have lost there chips for there mobo.

I don't know about their CPUs, but I'm definitely buying their GPUs.

I'm going to invest in AMD as well. I'm too lazy to explain all of my reasoning right now, but I think they are positioned much better in the market than intel is. Sure intel has the performance edge, but AMD is thinking about what people will need, while Intel is mindlessly Ticking and Tocking.

I've always been a huge proponent of AMD, I hope things turn out well for them. I'd love to see them on top of their game again, hopefully things won't get worse.

Based on the shift represented by the upcoming Tock, "mindless" does not seem a very good description for Intel's own positioning. That said, I'm still going to invest in AMD because... who knows. Maybe they'll surprise the hell out of me and make me rich. biggrin.gif

I don't know, the 7000 series Radeons looked pretty darned nice and nVidia didn't do any better. If anything, ATI is part of what's keeping AMD afloat right now (along with their use in next gen consoles).

I must say I do think AMD is going to be bigger than Intel in a few years. When OEMs realize  that there is almost no point of combining an i3 and a 5450 they will start buying more AMD because 1) the consumer can game better on trinity than a 5450 2) i3+5450 is much more expensive 3) less power draw. For us overclockers a trinity APU is not enough, but for most people it's far enough (even though most people on OCN don't seem to get that and still bash Trinity because of it's low graphical power).
