vrm's can get toasty on the x79 platfrom, if you want to push into the 5ghz range then it would probably be beneficial thumb.gif

It depends on how decent/how many VRMs the motherboard has and how high of an overclock you're wanting. Try overclocking to the range you want, measure temps, and decide for yourself if you think the temps are too high.

You don't need a water block on the Rampage IV VRMS, just a good spot fan.

Case airflow is fine for the VRMs up to 1.4v vcore on the cpu. More than 1.4v you'll need a spot fan in the VRM area.

You should be good unless you need an unsightly high voltage, im running 4.7ghz at 1.37 volts and my vrm temps are ok, once I start pushing up from that is when they get really toasty

So I can run at 4.6 at or below 1.4 and all should be well? Maybe just add a fan. The whole throttling thing bugs the heck out of me. nothing i hate worse than high temps lol
