How to force catalyst to display 1080p60?

PC Specs:
intel i7 2600k
Intel Z68BC mobo
AMD RADEON HD 7970
23' HDMI/DVI Asus 1080p monitor,

i am a YouTube video-maker and would like to record some PC game play. i have fraps, but as you may well know, it eats frame rates like fat people eat burgers. so i bought myself a Elgato Game capture HD. it records by HDMI pass through and can record 1080p30, but has 1080p60 pass through. the problem is that when i plug it in, Catalyst thinks it can only output 1080i30. is there any way to force Catalyst/Windows 7 to output 1080p60? also, i have tested this on a Nvidia GT650. at first same results, but Nvidia display manager let me force output 1080p60, and it worked. so either i can us Catalyst control to force output over HDMI of 1080p60 OR i need to buy a GTX 680.

please help me!!!

I'm not using an ATI card at the moment so I can't walk you through it, but there should be an option in there for HDTV modes... you select that and there should be a 1080p60 already preset that you can force.
