For some reason i did the runs at 4.6Ghz thinking the 8350 was clocked at 4.6 but i just saw it was clocked at 4.5Ghz so will rerun benches later

Looks like the 8350 will perform very nicely. Now if they fixed the power consumption it should be a steal at 199.99

If I were to provide a patched binary of cinebench, would you consider rerunning the cinebench scores for both the 3770 and the 8350 ?

I've read all the reviews out there, although I can't remember who is who. The general consensus is it's a good chip though, they definitely aren't "making it look bad"

I think what he meant was we've all seen the benchmarks, we don't need a page full of links. smile.gif And most of them are pretty positive. For it's application, it's a heck of a value.

The tangible reasons I could see someone getting a 3570K over Vishera is if they gamed at 720P or smaller, they have a 120Hz monitor, they pay 300% more than the national average for electricity, they use CFX/SLI, they like blue boxes.

If I were to upgrade my 8150 to an 8320 for folding, it would pay for itself in 14 months while giving me more PPD.
It would save me 7 hours of work per month, or earn me 7 hours of work. (I'm lazy so probably the first)
It would save me ~$200 for not having to pay extra for an i7 and Z77 motherboard.
It would be super hipster.

I will see what I can do to arrange for that, I have been playing with the instruction dispatch patching tool, it seems reliable so far. I haven't however tried it on anything as complex as cinebench. I am curious to see what the truth is in regards to cinebench. I have noticed some other wonky behaviors, notably with Fortran code, and most people use Intel Code Compiler code for fortran, including F@H and many others.

I do know, that cinebench uses the intel compiler, with the intel librarys, so it likely has very unfair instruction dispatch for AMD cpu's. Wether that hurt the performance of a AMD CPU, is the real question.

heres a link to the source code for the binary patching tool

and just so you don't think I am nuts

http://www.swallowtail.org/naughty-intel.shtml

detailed explination of how the ICC and Fortran compilers intentionally degrade fpu performance on AMD cpu's.

Yeah, if your going to do F@H, better look into patching F@H to remove the GenuineIntel insturction dispatch check, you might be able to double your current ppd, without spending a peny.
