Energy Efficient UPS units?

Thread Starter
So I currently have two APC 1500VA Sinewave 1u UPS units and am trying to reduce my energy consumption at home. These units suck a steady 50 watts each at all times with machines off or on. This costs me like $200+ a year!!! So they gotta go!

So what I am looking for is UPS units that have very low standby wattage. The problem is none list that specification. They all list full load efficiency! While this give me part of the picture, it doesn't give me the full image.

The search so far has brought up the Tripp-lite UPS units which does actually list a standby power of 5 watts or less, which is awesome! But I am not super thrilled with tripp lite as a brand, never had any experience with them and the quick look of reviews look wishywashy.

Any other options people know about?

The only other brand besides APC I've really looked at is CyberPower. Their current UPS selection is rated pretty well, and they have some branded as a "GreenPower" UPS. They market it as reducing power consumption up to 75 percent. I didn't see any actual specs on that, but it still may be worth checking out. Hope this helps smile.gif

I did see those units but the marketing mumbojumbo did provide much. So the Tripp lites seem to have just too many bad reviews and I really sinewave. So I think I'll get the cyberpower pfc series and test it out, return it if it doesn't perform to the standards. I report back here.
