Thread Starter
Guys, I need a quick question answered.

Should I buy a 27" Catleap 2703 for $340? Its a local deal so no tax or shipping and he said no dead pixels (hes coming over to show me first)

I know absolutely nothing about these monitors and the different types so any information is greatly apprecaited.

I have to let him know in 2 hours so fast responses are very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Does it have a warranty on it?

Check for back light bleed and see if it can run on the maximum brightness. Some Korean monitors have problems with the LED driver circuit.

If it has some kind of warranty and no major problems, you should definitely go for it. If it has no warranty, and you are willing to take a risk, then it might still be good.

The good points about this monitor are that it has good colors (8 bit, which is better than a TN panel, but worse than 10 bit monitors) and a very high resolution, at about half the price of some of the cheaper north american 1440p monitors.

The bad points are that the pixel response time isn't very good and there is probably more input lag than some high refresh rate monitors. If you play at 60 FPS anyway, then it probably won't matter. Also, the reliability of these monitors that I have seen has been hit and miss, some just have their PCBs die all of a sudden.

DPT is a great program for testing for dead/stuck/weak pixels as well as backlight bleed. It can be downloaded here (for free).

you just need to be in a dark room to test backlight bleed and a solid screen color on your screen. For dead pixels just try putting various solid colors on the screen and dead pixels will be obvious.

I'll see if I can upload a picture of the backlight bleed on my laptop for reference.

Edit: Here is a picture of an example of backlight bleed I took with my phone.

Yeah bro, the guy came to my house last night at midnight.

The monitor had one dead pixel and a small amount of back light bleed on the bottom left.

Other then that, I'm very happy with it!

The guy only had it for a week and he had bought a extra power brick and DVI-D cable so that was a nice bonus.

Games look amazing with my 670!
