I get your overall point...and i can see your confusion at my post...I did say it was not pure brand loyalty...however the brand loyalty and/or reputation attracts a customer to the product....if one has never experienced a andriod 4.0+ phone will mostly be attracted to a iphone on percieved problems of the gingerbread OS...while some will be die hard fans of iOS regardless of what OS google puts out...so satisifaction per $ is a very skewed thing, depending of the perception involved...

So your issue is more with ignorant and poorly educated consumers. Now we're on the same page.

edit: I was lucky to make this kind of profit back in my illegal substance peddling days. Don't do drugs kids.
Technically yes, but the post I was replying to was stating that Apple makes 75% profit on their products, and I was pointing out that it's not just as simple as looking at the BoM and then the selling price. You need to factor in wages and a lot of other things too.

Oil is a necessary product. An iPad is not. Collusion is a serious issue, as is price gouging on necessities like oil. If Apple tried to price gouge with the iPad it would simply stop selling. But oil, water and whatever else are needed so consumers are forced to pay the price. So it's a totally different scenario.

Besides that, it's not 75% profit. They're selling it for 50-75% more than the BoM but no one knows how much they pay in wages, how much money goes into SoC design and software design, etc.
