What sort of an effect does video resolution have on phones battery life?

Thread Starter
I'm flying to Europe next week and I've started putting some movies on my phone to watch on the plane/at stopovers. Obviously I'd like the battery to last as long as possible and so I'm wondering if lower resolution would use less battery? Or would it be best if I convert the movie to the native res of the phone?

On a side note is it possible to somehow increase the volume? One of the movies seems a bit quiet on my phone through headphones and I'm worried I might not hear it if there is a lot of background noise. I'm using free make video converter to convert the movies

I would assume it would. More resolution = more processing power, more processing power = more power used.

There are some converters that might boost volume a bit.
