******!!! THE BEST TIME TO BUILD MY COMPUTER? WHEN DO I START? WHAT SHOULD I WAIT FOR??? IS IT WORTH WAITING FOR? !!!*****

Hi guys, I'm am really stumped about when to build my computer. I have a tight budget as most of us do, $700, but if I wait till past Christmas it might increase to $800 - $850...My original build, which would have been :

AMD FX 8120
Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 7870 Ghz
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX

People tell me that the fx 8120 wouldn't be powerful enough to push my 7870 to full potential.
Is that true? I will be overclocking both my CPU and GPU. Although I'm scared that this build might become obsolete quickly. This build will probably be much cheaper though... mad.gif

But now, on my last posts, people have been telling me to wait for the new Intel Haswell processors that are coming out in March 2013.
But if I wait for that, would I wait for the next line of Graphics cards???

This kinda makes sense to me because people are rumoring that the CPU will provide double the performance and will take up a lot less watts.

I also heard that AMD's Radeon 8000 series will be a lot cheaper than the previous release.

MAIN QUESTIONS=

1. What should I wait for?
2. Is it even worth waiting for?
3. If I wait for the next line of Intel CPU's should I wait for the next line of GPU's?
4. Will waiting for all this new stuff make my build more expensive?
5. Is there any other new technology considering builds that I chould look out for?
6. When should I start my build?

THANK YOU GUYS!!!!!!biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

First of it would be a good idea to turn off the CAPS LOCK.

1. There is always something better around the corner so you will always bee waiting for something new. That being said the Piledrivers (FX-8350) should be available soon so I might be a good idea to wait for the reviews for that and see how good it is.
2. See above
3. Like I sad there is always something new around the corner. The current line of GPU are very good so there should be noting stopping you form picking one of them. There is still very little info on the upcoming radeon 8000's so they are still probably some time away.
4. No.
5. No.
6. Its really up to you like I first said there is no perfect time as things are in a constant flux.

PS: The fx 8120 can run a 7870 very well but most agree that the fx 8120/8150 aren't really all that good and the 2500k and 3570K are a better choices as they offer better performance and are about the same price.

if you've got a budget that low your obviously not going for an enthusiast/workbench pc. A few games on medi-high to high settings, but mostly office work and web surfing. For that kind o stuff the parts listed so far are fine and wont become obsolete as quickly as you think, especially if your gonna overclock everything. My sig build runs skyrim on max graphix with all the hd texture mods + others, and i'm currently running at 4.5ghz on all 8. For everyone else though it would help if you posted the other parts you're considering getting like psu, ram, hdd/ssd, case, cooler, 5.25 devices, and any extra pci cards, taht way we can advise you on what parts you could save money on and which ones you could get better versions of

Enough with the CAPS and annoying fonts and sizes. Don't be expected to be treated with respect on this site if you do that...

As stated above, there is always something new coming out. Nearly once a year, there is something new. Waiting months would be a bad choice. You'll eventually have to upgrade, so go ahead and build. You can wait, but remember there's probably something new coming out.

1) Just build it now. Things are still over a half a year away. Right now everything we know about the 7xx and 8xxx is pure speculation which is never right.

2) 1 answers 2. Just go for it. No sensing in waiting. Your doing a bird in the hand, 2 in the bush here.

3) Meh. Don't bother. Right now, again, we have no idea how Haswell will be, so just buy stuff now. Hell, even AMD's processor isn't going to be pulling anythign crazy.

4) New stuff is always more expensive. Right now prices are nice for some nice hardware. Go for it while the iron is hot.

5) Not really. Any new stuff that you should be concerned about is speculation.

6) Stupid question. Do it now. You got the money right? Just buy your stuff now, then down the road you can always sell off your current gear to offset the cost of the new. I do i tall the time.

Personally, I would go with Intel as it is a very power package for the price. AMD is kinda meh.

There's a reason it's 140 dollars. It sucks. I'm not an Intel fanboy, I just come from experience. It sucks compared to the 3570k.

umm hardly any caps guys hes just using a big font, dont see the problem tbh???
anyways youll be happy witht the intel cpu for gaming dont think there is a single gpu that the 2500K would bottleneck, even dual sli or Xfire prob wouldnt bottleneck a 2500K@4.5Ghz wich is so easy to achieve

Granted $140 for a FX-8120 is not a bad deal just keep in mind that the FX-8120 is not really faster then the old thubans and that will result in it getting out dated sooner then the other CPU's. Yes the Intel CPU's are more expensive but they are IMO superior in terms of bang for buck. Either way like I said in my first post I would recommend waiting for the reviews for the AMD's piledriver CPU's as they should be available very soon.

That's another thiung I'm thinking about, I think I'd like to pick up the Asrock Extreme 4 Z77 mobo too because it has everything I need.

I have already bought this cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134&name=CPU-Fans-Heatsinks. If I were to overclock the CPU, how far do you think I can get stable? I will have a 650 - 750 W PSU.
