Help with Budget Gaming Set-up

Thread Starter
I'm currently looking to purchase new Ram / Motherboard and Processor.

I have a Budget of £200 / $320.

I'm not too good at comparing benchmarks between products, although one thing for certain is that I'd prefer an AMD build since this is what I've used in the past.
If anyone can recommend the best Ram / Motherboard and Processor combination to fit my budget, it would be a lot of help.

Thank you for your quick reply smile.gif

Lets say I hooked these up to a Radeon HD 6770 [ Using the Bulldozer FX- 6100]

How well would you say this rig would preform playing BF3 or Similar high graphics games? ^ ^

Thanks in advance

It depends on the resolution & level of detail. But it should be ok if gaming @ 1080p with med to high settings.

CPU: Core i3 3220 for £95.98
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-3-30GHz-Graphics-Advanced-Extensions/dp/B008F65MO0/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1350804347&sr=1-3
Mobo: Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77-DS3H for £71.98

Probably there are better mobos out there that will fit your budget.
Memory: Corsair 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance for £31.30
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9-1600MHz-Vengeance-Memory/dp/B004CRSM4I/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1350804610&sr=1-2

Total cost: £199,26

I am AMD guy myself, but I would go Intel.

Good setup. Would recommend changing the mobo though to H77 or B75 chipset with the i3.

If you are playing single-player BF3, your computer won't care much what CPU you have in it.

If you want to play large multi-player BF3 maps (like the 64-player ones), then you need quite a bit of CPU power. With AMD, you'll want a heavily overclocked Phenom II or Bulldozer for smooth play. With Intel, any quad-core will do (Intel chips have better per-core performance). Also, Intel is better if you play some of the other CPU-limited games (SC2, the Total War series, Guild Wars 2 to a lesser extent). The reason again being better per-core performance. And better price-performance (I'm speaking specifically of gaming here, not other applications) than AMD.

All that said, the 6770 is not great when dealing with graphically very demanding games like BF3. If you have a 1920x1080 resolution or larger, you're only going to be getting high framerates on medium or even low settings. Though for less demanding games, the 6770 will be fine. Not knowing your current setup, or potential budget for a GPU upgrade, or the specific intended uses for the computer, I can't recommend specific parts.

Just Wondering, would an i5 3450 Paired with an Asrock H77m motherboard make a good choice?

Not Looking to do any Overclocking.

A10-5800K will be MUCH better in games with onboard IGP than ANY intel (including 3770K or better)
