DVI -> HDMI | Increased input lag?

Thread Starter
Hey,

My monitor is a DVI monitor and I need it to plug into HDMI, now I was wondering if buying an adapter would increase the input lag or not?
I heard both that it does, and that it doesn't. I initially thought it wouldn't as HDMI is DVI + audio, right?
Whatever

Don't see why it would; all the adapter does is switch a few pins round, no signal conversion or anything like that. Could be wrong tho.

HDMI will carry audio as well. from my own experience those adapters suck. takes away a huge amount of video quality. i have tried about 5 different adapters and the same thing. but im not sure if i just had cheap adapters. anyway now i have a huge stack of worthless adapters because of it. I would recommend a HDMI to DVI wire.

Single wire, or adapter, all the same thing. What I'm asking is if it would bring any extra input lag with it?

That's what I thought as well, but I have to be sure before I spend my money, even if it's not expensive.

How would it take away image quality? It's ones and zero's. The quality doesn't degrade unlike analog. It's either there or it isn't.

This, probably placebo.

From what I understand the signal is the same through DVI and HDMI so I wouldn't think there would be any lag, if there is I very highly doubt it's even measurable. Take this with a pinch of salt though, I don't know much about displays.

Like other have said DVI to HDMI is just rearranging pins. It has zero impact on input lag or image quality.
