Linux faults

Title of Thread =/= Title of Video = Not a troll hate thread

This is not a Linux hate thread this is merely a thread pointing the faults and problems in Linux that I thought in creating because this video was in my recommendations (I personally use and love Linux).

Discuss about the things that you agree or disagree with in the video.

Do not start comparing it to other OS, only compare Linux distros with each other.

If this isn't a hate thread then why is the title "Why Linux Sucks", shouldn't it be more along the line of "Faults with Linux"

I use Linux a lot and love it, the stability and flexibility makes it so awesome... biggrin.gif

Yes I thought about that but I wanted it to match the title of the video

Watched the first 10 minutes of it. The slackware joke was funny tongue.gif

I will agree with some things.
Updates to a system should never break it, though it happens a lot across various distros.
Constantly changing DE's are also a bit of a pain, because it means relearning where everything is, and that's not something some people enjoy doing.

As far as drivers, this is a bit of a hit and miss. I myself haven't ever had a device that wasn't supported, or not been able to find a driver in about 5 minutes to get it working.
With regards to video card drivers, there's not much that can be done for proprietary drivers, since there all proprietary. tongue.gif

Overall, the pros still outweigh the cons for me, and I'll still always be a linux user. thumb.gif

Haha, that was pretty funny. Slackware... biggrin.gif Personally, I've had some rough experiences with Linux for many of the reasons that they listed in the video. I won't hate on it as I have done in the past because I understand some people just like different stuff from me. smile.gif I'll be a Windows user unto the end, but I can respect those who aren't too. thumb.gif

not had any problems.

sure when i was a utter noob i stared at the screen and broke things, but im not the school of thought that linux needs to be ultra maintstream or nooby like a tablet o/s. Im happy to have an oddball, custom, free O/S that is light weight and efficient and does exactly what i need it too (Server)

if it did become as stable in driver and update terms as windows then it would be a fat bloaty heffer and no different from windows in terms of cost either.

lol beef miracle

I really agree with how much xorg sucks and wayland is just so freaking late

personlly I think the packaging issue is a little bit annoying but the 'fix' (tight standards) is fair worse. a bit of a non issue also considering software isn't really that hard to port

I think most of the speed issues relate to major des, so this is more of an issue for new users, where anything > windows so again, a bit of non issue

personlly, gimp and audacity work fine for me, and I don't think FOSS is the problem

while games may be a problem or OCNers, most people just want firefox+office+youtube

itunes is massive problem. so many people use idevices

funding is a big problem. personlly I'm just 14 so have no money to donnate, but if I could, I would. its free to use, but its not free to make. at the same time, closed source is not an option for me
