Why don't you wait for Thermalright's AXP-100? It's 120mm × 105mm × 44mm according to a few sites I've read.

Well the CPU came and surprise it has an unused stock heatsink. Should I send the thermaltake back? The Intel at least has a copper heat plate.
It doesn't sound like the thermaltake will be any better, but how noisy is the intel cooler? I have never used one but I know the Thermaltake is pretty quiet.

its quite lol, the fan RPM only goes to like 2000 rpm sadly, i'd say about 21~22 DBA

Is that on your 2600K? The xeon has a lower tdp (65w) and its 22nm so maybe temps would be cooler. Its odnly 4w more than an i3 2100

I would keep the thermaltake, and see the results. If you want the results to be better then you can always lap it to shave off a couple degrees.

From what I can find, that cpu with the stock cooler tops out at 70 deg. under Intel burn test.
Edit: upon further research, with a tower type cooler, these things top out about 59 deg. 11 deg. difference might be worth while, especially if running all the time.
