Looking for new HDTV, 46" - 60". Reccomendations? - Page 3

Go with Samsung. I have 3 Samsung HDTV's in my house, and they all have an awesome picture....2 32" and 1 46". When I purchased the 46" I bought an LG first because it was a $100 cheaper, but when I got it home the picture just didn't look good. I spent 2 nights looking on the internet and calibrating it (by sight) and I could never get the picture to look good. I then returned it, purchased my Samsung, came home and "Wow, that is the picture I've been looking for."

I am not the type of person to just be a fanboy of a particular product or brand, but I make one exception about that when it comes to TV's. Samsung can not be beaten......

I also still have a 27" CRT (I think it is 27") and it is a Samsung and I have had that for years. Never had a problem with it.

remember that when calibrating use the ms recommended value 5000k if i recall not 6500 k

Go with Sony, when my buddy worked in the electronics dept of sears he would get a lot of tv's from sharp returned. On my Bravia all the inputs retain their own independent settings which is nice

A Panasoic or Samsung Plasma are arguably the best overall TVs you can get. The Panasonic ST, GT series or the Samsung 6000, 7000 series are within your price range and will present a better picture than most if not all LED-LCD TVs in your price range.

I have a similar Samsung 7900 (US here), 46 inch, 240Hz, thin bezel and image is nice - looks like it has no bezel at all and the image just floats in the air; does 3D etc.
Bought it for gaming from computer or PS3 and it's great at it - don't know what graphics card would do 240 Hz or if HDTV is True 240Hz even. Small perks - you can use your Samsung (or any other?) smart phone as remote, view pics from computer etc. Vudu, Hulu, Netflix are also availble via Ethernet.

Sony might be interesting since I remember reading Sony will make their movies (they own a lot of good ones) available on their TV's (for a small fee?).

Sony's are indeed great as well as greatly overpriced. The new HX850 is one of the sexiest tv's I've seen but its so expensive for just a 55". Not to mention the XBR line....

Well some stuff to think about for sure. In regard to viewing distance it is about 3 metres. It will be something I will take into account when I go to view the TVs properly. I think the 60 will be fine though it is not just my opinion that will matter.

I caved. I bought the Sharp 60 inch with a 10% discount! :D

Looks pretty damn awesome aswell. Watched Avengers on it last night and I was blown away by the image smoothness and quality. Well pleased.

Now I just need to get it up on the wall. :)
