SSD or Mechanical Keyboard? - Page 4

Depends what you're doing on the computer.

SSD doesnt necessarily improve gameplay performance, all it does is increase loading times. In some games such as SC2, DOTA2 you have to wait for other players to load in anyways so a SSD here isn't as useful.

Mechanical keyboard is more all-around upgrade.

There are a few games where a SSD will help with frame rate stability, fewer dips, only because the game is horribly optimized and constantly accessing the HDD to pull data.....

For SC2, if you play in the competitive games, a mechanical keyboard is a big upgrade here cause it will registrate far more "apm" so you can actualy play "faster" with a mech in this type op game.

Ehh, It is a tough choice, I would go with a Mech Keyboard actually. I see the prces in SSDs dropping shortly... I mean you can already catch a 128GB Samsung 830 on sale for $80... I would rather get a nice $130 Mech keyboard and grab a SSD later. And I own a SSD doh.gif

The only noticeable difference is boot time...

A few games... compared to the overall better experience of using a mechnical keyboard? I don't think that mechanical keyboards are necessarily overrated by any means.
A lot of people underestimate peripherals (mouses, mousepads, keyboards) but they are just as important as any component inside a rig. Especially if a person plans to game.

I agree with that. In that case, blues will work best (in my opinion) for SC2 as it takes the less amount of force.
Blacks are better for FPS.... but then again it all comes down to preference.

While you are right that some are crap, your opinion doesn't hold much weight with me since you don't own a mechanical keyboard but rather have a collection of those rubber domed mushboards.

Again, I love my 830, but I don't get nearly as much satisfaction out of slightly quicker load times as I do from every blissful keystroke on my mech board. Typing this post was downright orgasmic.

My opinion on this subject is SSD.
Mech Keyboard, yeah the response feedback maybe faster, but so fast that unless you are a pro gamer, it may not mean that much.
I feel it is something you get after you have taken care of the basics.
Basics: Hard drive.
It will give you an over all better user experience as far as feel of your system's response, page loading, computer loading, lower failure rates than traditional hd's.
Day to day you will notice an ssd's benefits more.
Unless you are an up and coming gamer that needs that edge.
( *cough* *cough* not really, if you suck at gaming than the keyboard won't help:p)

good luck
