HDMI better than DVI on BenQ GW2750?

Hey guys,

Just got a new monitor and I have a question. When I plug the monitor in via HDMI the colors and details look a lot better than when the monitor is plugged in via DVI. I always thought HDMI and DVI were similar in regards to video signal, just DVI didn't have the audio capability. When I plug the monitor in via an HDMI cable into a DVI to HDMI port adapter the picture looks good and crisp again, so I don't think it's the video card. Should I be looking at taking this monitor back? Or is this normal?

Thanks!

Either the settings are configured different on the monitor, video card or there is something wrong with the monitor - HDMI and DVI are the exact same digital signal

I thought there was some difference in DVI cables. As in some were DVI-D and had Extra pins and stuff?? Could this be the issue or am I wrong?

Yes, thanks... I was pretty sure they were the same. I checked the settings and they are all identical.... Must be something with the monitor I think...

IIRC, the extra pins are so the cable can carry analog signals as well....

Extra pins are for dual link DVI cables so that they can carry a 2560 x 1600 picture
