Need suggestion for the pump

Thread Starter
CPU block -- not decided, maybe raystorm or supremacy
2* GPU block -- XSPC Razor 7970 for two HD7950 running at 1Ghz
no other blocks
2 Radiators -- 1* swiftech 320QP and 1* XSPC RX360
Case : 800D

Silence is the most important and all the fans are running at 800 ~ 1000 rpm.

I want water to be 12 C cooler than the room temp.

So, what pump should I use?

MCP 35X or D5? Which one will be quieter for my goal?

What about double D5, one at 3 and one at 2?

Either one will probably work just fine. You could always run the vga blocks in parallel to be sure.

Which motherboard do you have? Silence on the 35x pretty much hinges on decent pwm controls. Proper decoupling will probably make more of a difference than you might think as well.

You state you want water temp 12c lower than Ambient.. Thats not going to happen unless you apply some mechanical phase change cooling to your loop. I have seen some guys saying the 35x is loud so i would stick with the D5...

I personally run an Acool vpp655.. Near silent at 3500rpm
and a Swiftech 35B also near silent at 12v

D5 is almost inaudible, even turned all the way up. With 2 GPU blocks you might consider a second, but it's not at all necessary.

If you want silence, look into the aquaero 5 for fan control. It's a bit expensive (The LT is $75), but you can set up one thermometer for your ambient, and another for your water temp, and control your fans based on the difference between the two (aim for 100% around 10 degrees or so). Most of the time it'll be dead silent (fans only spin up when you need them), and at idle your water temp will be really close to your ambient. Get some PWM fans for your radiators, and you won't even have to worry about wattage.

The other trick to silence is to have a ton of radiator space. You should be fine there thumb.gif I assume the 12 degrees below is a typo, on account of that's impossible with only radiators, but keeping your water temp within 12 degrees of ambient should be easy.
